Bengali New Year

Bengali New Year, also known as Pahela Baishakh in Bengali, is falling on 14th April 2018. The day is a national holiday in Bangladesh and celebrated with great zest all over the world including the UK. Baishakh is the first month of the Bengali calendar and the first day of this month is seen as the commencement of a new year. It is also a solar new year for Hindus and Sikhs and they celebrate it as a harvest festival by going out on picnics with family and participating in fairs and processions.

Rama Navami

Rama Navami is a Hindu festival celebrated in spring every year and it marks the birthday of a Hindu god called Rama. The day falls on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. Rama Navami is falling on 25th March, 2018 this year and will be celebrated with great ardour and passion by the Hindus all over the world. Norooz, Persian New Year

Nowruz or Norooz, the Persian New Year, is falling on 20th March, 2018 this year. It usually falls around 19th to 21st March depending on the sun crossing the celestial equator to enter the Northern Hemisphere. Night and day become equal when this happens and this event marks the beginning of a new year for the Persians. Norooz is celebrated by Iranians and Central Asians the world over including the UK as a secular holiday. The day is considered to be a holy day for the Muslims living in Iran and other countries of the region.
